Watermelon Day Celebration – Class 1
Aryabhatta International School
In this scorching summer heat, Class 1 students at Aryabhatta International School joyfully celebrated Watermelon Day—a fun and educational activity that brought both learning and excitement into the classroom.
Our main objective behind this celebration was to make students aware of the everyday fruits they eat—like watermelon—without always knowing the benefits they offer. While children often enjoy watermelon, they may not realize how rich it is in essential nutrients and why it is especially important during the summer.
Through this activity, students learned:
• The color and shape of a watermelon
• Why watermelon is considered a summer fruit
• The health benefits of eating watermelon, such as preventing dehydration, keeping the body cool, and boosting energy
To make the session more engaging, students also performed a delightful thematic dance, which added a creative and energetic touch to the learning experience.
We sincerely appreciate the dedicated efforts of Ms. Bubble and Mrs. Dharamjeet, who beautifully decorated the activity area—well beyond our expectations! Their creativity and involvement played a major role in making this event both informative and memorable.
At Aryabhatta International School, we believe in imparting value-based learning—where children not only enjoy their daily routine but also understand the importance behind their actions, food choices, and habits.
We were honored to have our respected Principal Mr. Shashikant Mishra and Coordinator Mrs. Manpreet Chawla join the event. They shared valuable insights with the students, explaining how watermelon helps the body stay hydrated and refreshed in the heat, and emphasized the importance of eating seasonal fruits.
The students thoroughly enjoyed this activity and learned about the “hidden qualities” of watermelon in a fun and interactive way. It was indeed a beautiful day filled with joy, learning, and the sweet freshness of summer!
